I have talked to so many super successful, alpha male leader dads across every industry... Every single one of them, without fail, is like, 'This is the thing... I know is going to be my legacy. And no matter how successful I've been on the field, no matter how successful I've been in business... this is the thing that matters.'

Building DeFi is way more difficult than building, let's say, traditional financial platforms... or, let's say, building rockets that are going toward space. Let's say you have a cargo rocket that explodes; you lose $10 million. If the large DeFi protocol gets hacked, you lose $10 billion. So, the stakes are very, very high.

I strongly believe that if you have people that are coding for fun on the weekend on something, that thing is unkillable. So, there's no ETH killers. There's never going to be an ETH killer because there's just too many people having fun building ETH, and that's awesome.

I've spent 20 years in open source, and we've figured out ways to make open source free at every level and at every tier. Somebody is paying for it somewhere, but there's always enough institution there that we can provide that service. And as we build out the web3 ecosystem, we need to make sure that public NFT data is a public service and a public commons and that were backing it up.

I think it kind of goes to this idea of, well, a big all-purpose marketplace, which is trying to serve every single NFT project in the entire space and charges a 2.5% listing fee for everything that's traded, I don't know if that's the future, Kevin. My general hypothesis is that we're going to move toward more localized marketplaces for each NFT set, perhaps even every NFT set, and those are going to perhaps charge lower fees and really give people the opportunity to transact in a censorship-resistant way.

What would be transformative is fully on-chain banks, no overdraft fees, no account fees, and yields that are DeFi yields (4-8%)—and that being delivered to consumers, like everyday people, across the world ... That is a very simple idea. It doesn't require a lot of code. It doesn't require a lot of smart contracts. It's really just about 'How do I build a product that has that user experience that can scale to a very large number of people?' And the impact of that would be astronomical. Like, all of a sudden, you have completely transformed the banking industry with one app.

I know you're going to laugh when I say this, but I actually think Bitcoin is the least risky asset somebody can buy today.

I don't consider any blockchain, right now, safe and permanent. This is a very early time in this ecosystem. We're going to see very big changes and shake-ups. I don't think that anyone can be making claims with words like 'forever' right now.

How do you measure your unrealized gains in NFTs? ... 48.5% percent of the respondents said that they measure their gains in ETH terms ... 16.8% said that they evaluate it in US dollar terms. 16.7% said they don't care about gains, implying that they just want to hold the assets because they deem it as culturally important...

Web2 is going to look like a blip. The stuff we were doing, the stuff that we cared about, is going to seem like this weird, you know, ugly middle... compared to what is happening now.

Which is my big belief of where NFTs are going to go, right? Like it's a smart contract—you could do anything. Right now, we're so fixated on the collectability and the art aspect, which is amazing ... But there's so much more that can be done.

You are way better off lending money or investing in women in these communities all over the world. Doesn't matter; when you normalize across different countries or regions, cultures, does not matter. Give money to women, because when you do, let's say they're going to start a business or what have you, the gains from that don't just get reinvested in the business, they get reinvested in their families and their communities.

I think the best advice I would give myself going into marriage is, number one, you don't need to CEO every situation ... Not every problem needs a solution ... And, more often than not, it is okay to actually not engineer a solution for it.

A currency is a religion. It is a belief system. And so, whether it's the US dollar, it's Bitcoin, it's Doge, or the Euro, or the Yen, it's just both parties in a transaction believe it has value and are willing to exchange it for goods or services.

Your tech stack, at the end of the day, doesn't really matter unless it affects the user experience, which, again, is the thing people actually care about.

Today, there's this element of, like, show me the community and explain to me why no one can replicate it. And Doge is almost the best example. I think a lot about these assets that, frankly, you could replicate with the click of a button ... There is no leader, there [are] no employees, there is no kind of team behind it, yet it still persists. It's almost like a startup that everyone thinks it's a dumb idea but it just won't die.

I think that it's not inconceivable that Brave could end up having a larger market share than Firefox on some timeline. They've grown pretty quickly. Firefox has been bleeding market share for years.

I like nice. I don't like confrontation. I don't like negativity. You know, I stress about those things when they come up ... I like people. I like nice. I love entrepreneurship. But I'm not about, like, buying watches or champagne bottles or private jets. Like, I'm in the game. I like the game we play, Kev.

Maybe there's less juice to be squeezed at this point and a lot of the ROI [associated with] buying Bitcoin has been squeezed, but I do think there's still a pretty good amount of growth left there.

It's never been a better time to be starting from zero because the expectations of your community are so low, and because where it can go from here is so much greater.
